Frequently asked questions

• If you are skiing, you will need skis, bindings and ski boots. Poles are not necessary to start. However, if your equipment is new, borrowed, or a bit outdated, we strongly recommend that you visit one of our specialists at the Repair Shop to evaluate your ski equipment and make sure everything is safe.
  
  
• For snowboarding, you will need a board, binding as well as boots. Be careful; make sure that the boots fit well into the bindings. Then, visit one of our specialists at the Repair Shop to evaluate your snowboarding equipment and make sure everything is safe.
  
  
• Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended when skiing and snowboarding. It is mandatory in snow parks.
• Goggles are optional and usually not necessary for beginners. However, wearing ski goggles becomes necessary when riding fast (intermediate or advanced level) to avoid wind in your eyes.
  
  
• Warm clothing suitable for outdoor physical activity:
  
  
  • Warm stockings
  • Snow pants
  • Coat
  • Warm mittens/gloves
  • Collar or neck warmer
  • Long, tight-fitting underwear (like jumpsuits or leggings). Wearing jeans or sweatpants is not recommended.

Wearing a helmet is not mandatory but highly recommended. Moreover, the vast majority of skiers and snowboarders use it. In our snow parks, however, wearing a helmet is mandatory.

• The million-dollar question! For Sommet Saint-Sauveur, the opening and closing dates are not defined in advance. So we follow the weather. As soon as the temperatures drop below -3c, we start our snow guns on the mountain. In some good years, Sommet Saint-Sauveur began its season in October. For the end date, it all depends on the remaining snow on the ground. We have a saying that says: "As long as there is snow, there will be skiing!". "
• For our satellite stations (Olympia, Gabriel, Morin Heights and Edelweiss), the season usually starts at the beginning of December and ends at the end of March. But, of course, it all depends on the weather conditions.

Consult here the history of Sommet Saint-Sauveur openings and closings dates. The record? A closure on June 8, 2019! The Water Park was even open as skiers went down.

Snow parks are trails dedicated to jumps and modules (rails, boxes, etc.) intended for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Different sizes of modules are available. Children under 12 must be accompanied. Specific rules must also be observed in parks (ex., not stopping at the bottom of a jump). If this is your first time, we suggest you seek advice from one of our Park Rangers.
