Les Sommets is entering a new phase of its development with nearly $30 million in investments dedicated to enhancing and expanding its destinations.
This represents les Sommets’ largest single-year investment program dedicated to the development of new tourism attractions. From Sommet Saint-Sauveur and Sommet Morin Heights to Sommet Olympia, Sommet Gabriel and Sommet Edelweiss, several projects will enhance the guest experience over the coming seasons.
New attractions, chairlifts, facility upgrades, night skiing, snowmaking, mountain biking and the Water Park: these investments are all part of the same vision to establish les Sommets as a leading four-season recreational tourism destination in the Laurentians and across Quebec.
At Sommet Saint-Sauveur, the development of La Place du Sommet marks the beginning of a major project designed to offer a new way to experience the mountain, day and night, in every season.
Developed in part with financial support from the Programme d’aide à la relance de l’industrie touristique, La Place du Sommet will bring together nature, heritage, education and entertainment in a new space designed to be accessible to a wide range of visitors.
Throughout the experience, guests will have the opportunity to discover the history of Le P’tit Train du Nord and the ski culture of the Saint-Sauveur Valley, two elements that played an important role in shaping the region’s development.
The project will be rolled out in phases:
Whether arriving on foot or by chairlift to explore, learn, take in the views or simply spend time together, La Place du Sommet will offer a new way to enjoy the mountain in the Laurentians, whatever the season.
Another major investment will follow with the replacement of Chairlift 71 by a second high-speed six-passenger chairlift equipped with a loading conveyor, designed by Doppelmayr. Scheduled to begin operations in winter 2027–2028, the new lift will also become one of the main gateways to La Place du Sommet.
In summer 2027, Harricana will become the new signature attraction at the Sommet Saint-Sauveur Water Park. Unique in Canada, this three-storey family waterslide will allow up to five people to ride together in the same raft for an exciting, shared experience packed with thrills.
Representing an investment of $7 million, the project will draw on the expertise of ProSlide, an Ottawa-based water attraction manufacturer, and Deflex, a composite products manufacturer based in Saint-Victor, Beauce. Together, they will help bring to life a distinctive new attraction that will inject new energy into the summer experience while preserving the seamless integration with the mountain that has defined the Water Park since its beginnings.
This winter, les Sommets will transform the Snow Tubing Parks at the versant Avila of Sommet Saint-Sauveur and at Sommet Edelweiss into an immersive after-dark experience. Visitors of all ages will step into a magical world of sound and light, as colourful lighting effects transform the mountain and create a spectacular atmosphere from the moment they arrive. With a festive setting and illuminated runs, the Snow Tubing Parks will offer a whole new winter experience to share with family and friends.
At Sommet Edelweiss, in the Outaouais region, several new features will further enhance the experience. A new conveyor lift covered by an illuminated dome will make the ride back up more comfortable. State-of-the-art fan-powered snowmaking equipment will also help maintain quality conditions throughout the season. A third GoPasse kiosk will be installed directly at the Snow Tubing Park, allowing guests to purchase ski or tubing tickets online and print their RFID ticket at the kiosk without having to visit Guest Services. Reusable and reloadable, the same ticket can also be used for future visits.
The investments also extend to several essential aspects of the mountain experience.
Les Sommets will continue to roll out BlueCime technology, which uses artificial intelligence to encourage the proper use of safety bars on chairlifts. Eight new systems will be added this season, bringing the total to 11 installations across the les Sommets network.
A significant portion of the rental equipment fleet will also be renewed to provide guests with newer, well-adapted equipment, particularly those discovering skiing or snowboarding for the first time.
Les Sommets is also continuing to optimize its snowmaking systems with next-generation equipment designed to use water and energy more efficiently. These improvements will help maintain the best possible snow conditions while progressively adapting mountain operations to the realities of climate change.
Beyond these major projects, several additional investments will bring tangible improvements to the day-to-day guest experience across the network.
The Sommet Saint-Sauveur Bike Park continues to expand with the addition of two new trails designed for beginner riders.
Pinso, a new green trail, is already open. A second green trail will be added in spring 2027, allowing even more guests to discover mountain biking in Saint-Sauveur and progress at their own pace.
The lighting system on the Kingsbury trail, formerly known as 70 Est, will also be completely upgraded with new, more energy-efficient LED technology.
At Sommet Olympia, the lighting system in the L’Aiguille sector will be fully upgraded, allowing night skiing to return to the area after a two-season hiatus.
The locker room in the Kosak Pavilion will also be redesigned to optimize space and improve guest comfort.
Work will also be carried out on several snowmaking lines, along with the addition of new portable snow guns.
At Sommet Gabriel, operating hours will be extended. The mountain will now remain open until 5 p.m., compared with 4 p.m. in recent seasons, giving skiers even more time to enjoy their day on the slopes.
These investments are part of a long-term strategy to continue evolving les Sommets’ destinations while responding to changing guest expectations.
“Behind every project is our commitment to making a tangible difference in the guest experience. We are investing so families can make the most of their day, beginners can discover our sports with confidence, and everyone can create memorable moments at our mountains, whatever the season,” said Christian Dufour, Director of Strategic Development at les Sommets.
With nearly $30 million in investments, new four-season attractions, modernized infrastructure and improvements across its network, les Sommets continues to develop one of Quebec’s most comprehensive recreational tourism offerings.
