ISHA Awards Danielle Soucy Les Sommets

Saint-Sauveur, QC - March 28, 2025Last Friday, the Laurentians were honored at the prestigious ISHA Awards in Lake Placid, New York. The awards are presented annually by the International Skiing History Association to recognize outstanding works dedicated to the history of skiing around the world.

Not one, but two incredible prizes were won by representatives from our beautiful region!

Danielle Soucy, winner of the Skade Award

Saint-Jovite native Ms. Danielle Soucy has put the Laurentians in the spotlight, winning the Skade award for her book de la vallée aux Sommets. The book brilliantly highlights the history of our company, les Sommets, and the influence of skiing on the development of the Saint-Sauveur valley and the Laurentians.

Our leaders at les Sommets were proud to applaud Ms. Soucy. A tribute that not only underscored her passion and dedication but also reinforced the undeniable impact of the Laurentians in the history of North American alpine skiing.

A message of gratitude and friendship without borders

In her speech, Ms. Soucy expressed her gratitude to those close to her and to all those who supported her in her endeavours. She also praised the warm ties between the American and Canadian ski communities:

“Let's hope that this beautiful friendship between our two countries continues for many years to come!” she concluded with emotion, reminding us that the love of skiing transcends all political boundaries.

An honour for the Musée du Ski des Laurentides

The Musée du Ski des Laurentides received an honourable mention for its captivating short films retracing the rich and fascinating history of skiing in the region. Produced with the talent and collaboration of Cogeco, Nous TV Laurentides and Michel Allard, it's a wonderful way to celebrate our collective heritage and share the passion for skiing through the ages.

Congratulations to the winners!

Congratulations to Ms. Danielle Soucy and the Musée du Ski des Laurentides for these well-deserved tributes. Thank you for your exceptional work, which testifies to the vital importance of skiing in our region.
